This largely working-class suburb would receive few visitors if it wasn’t for the notorious role it played during WWII. It was here the Nazis herded some 16,000 Jews into a ghetto before sending them off to concentration camps. A smattering of sites recall these events, including the famed factory of Oskar Schindler, where many lives were saved. These days, the district is on the upswing as clubs and cafes open up and trendy Kazimierz spills over across the river.
